Catharine E. Maschek, formerly of Austintown, married John M. Cabaniss of Goose Creek, S.C., during a 3 p.m. Sept. 27, 2014, ceremony at Cypress Gardens. A reception followed at The Redbank Club in Monck’s Corner, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Lynda Maschek of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Austintown. Richard and Katherine Cabaniss of Charlotte, N.C. are parents of the groom.

The bride wore a soft white off-the-shoulder gown with ruching across the bodice and a full skirt. A jeweled sash accented the empire waist.

Kayla Herspberger was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Dana Bachinger, Jamie Kohler and Katie Frank. Gianna Grace Gurwitz, the groom’s godchild, was flower girl. The attendants wore royal blue.

Matthew Andoos performed duties of best man. Groomsmen were Robert McMillin, Richard Nguyen and Derek Hogan.

Mr. and Mrs. Cabaniss took a wedding trip to Disney World in Florida, and live in Goose Creek.

Mrs. Cabaniss earned a bachelor’s degree of fine arts from Slippery Rock University. She is a quality/development analyst at Benefitfocus in Charleston.

Her husband served in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Master at Arms First Class. He is an electronics technician at SKYLLA Engineering, also in Charleston.
