Misconduct cases investigated at Campbell Memorial High School
CAMPBELL
Notice of Investigation

Letter sent to Jacquelyn Hampton regarding her Notice of Investigation and Administrative Leave from Memorial High School in Campbell. She is being investigated due to allegations of possible misconduct involving a minor(s).
Two separate cases of possible misconduct with students are being investigated in the Campbell City School District.
Principal Jacquelyn Hampton of Campbell Memorial High School has been “placed on paid administrative leave” as of Thursday, according to a letter from Superintendent Matthew Bowen.
“The District has received allegations of possible misconduct involving a minor student(s), and alleged failure to comply with mandatory reporting requirement as defined by state law ... and board policy,” he said in the letter. “During this temporary assignment, you are not permitted to communicate with, or take other actions that would involve parents or students in matters related to your employment with the District.”
In the letter, Hampton is prohibited from entering the grounds of any building owned or controlled by the school district. She also is required to communicate all business-related needs to Bowen and remain at home from 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. while completing work assignments.
“As a public employer, Campbell City Schools must follow the appropriate procedures in the investigation of allegations of misconduct by a staff member. We do not rush to judgment or cater to rumors,” Bowen said in a prepared statement Friday.
“Instead we endeavor to take the time necessary to determine the facts and make decisions based on the information before us. Nevertheless, an administrator has been placed on leave pending completion of the investigation. On the advice of board counsel we believe it to be imprudent to comment further,” the statement said.
According to the school’s website, Hampton earned her bachelor of science degree in education from The Ohio State University in 1994 and a master’s in curriculum and instruction in the classroom from Ashland University in 1999.
She joined the Campbell district in 2006 as the 11th- and 12th-grade English and Honors English teacher. In 2008, Hampton became the assistant principal, and she was appointed principal in 2011.
In a separate matter, a teacher at the high school was investigated after an allegation of a relationship with a student, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
Shannon Pavlansky-Wojtowicz, 30, of Campbell, was placed on unpaid leave Jan. 26 pending the investigation. She resigned two days later.
Police confirmed that Pavlansky-Wojtowicz turned herself in Friday afternoon and is charged with sexual battery.
“I cannot comment directly on an active joint investigation with BCI [Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation] other than to say it’s a very tragic situation that the entire community needs to put behind us,” said Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan. “Hopefully, everyone learns from these recent incidents that poor choices affect so many people.”
