Area churches plan services for Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18. This marks the beginning of Lent, a season of spiritual renewal.

CATHOLIC

Christ Our Savior Parish, Services at 7 and 9 a.m. and 3:15 and 7 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers, and 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers.

Holy Apostles Parish, ecumenical service at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen of Hungary, 854 Wilson Ave., Youngstown, with Ambassadors for Christ and Mass at 5 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Catholic Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown: Masses will be at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, 291 Scoville Drive, Vienna: Holy hour of reparation at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Blessing of ashes and distribution before Masses at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday. Stations of the Cross will be at 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent.

St. Charles Borromeo Church, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman: Masses at 7 and 8:30 a.m., 12:10 and 7 p.m.

St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave., Youngstown: Services at 7 and 9 a.m., noon and 6 p.m. with ashes at noon.

St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., Youngstown: Masses at 7:45 a.m., 12:10 and 7 p.m. with ashes. A pasta fagioli dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with salad, dessert, bread and butter, coffee and tea. Cost is $6.50. Cheese pizza also will be available. Take-out meals will be available. No reservations required.

St. Dominic Church, 76 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown: Masses at 6:30 and 8 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m.

St. Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown: Masses with ashes at 7 and 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

St. Michael Church, 300 N. Broad St., Canfield: Mass at 9 a.m. with ashes, Liturgy of the Word with ashes at 12:15, 5:30 and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross will be at 6:30 p.m. Fridays during Lent.

St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St., Hubbard: Masses with distribution of ashes at 8:30 a.m., noon and 7 p.m. Stations of the Cross will be at 7 p.m. Fridays of Lent. Exposition and adoration of the Holy Eucharist will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, starting Feb. 25.

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown: Masses with distribution of ashes at 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Stations of the Cross will be at 6:30 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 20-March 27.

DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman: A Shrove Tuesday pancake supper will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by a brief worship service with ashes. A prayer vigil is planned for Ash Wednesday. Members are asked to sign up for a time to pray in their homes or at the church.

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge: A soup supper will be at 6 p.m. and worship at 7 with imposition of ashes and celebration of the Lord’s supper. Each Sunday during Lent, the service will include a monologue about Jesus. Services will have child care available.

First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St., East Palestine: Service at 7 p.m.

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman: Community dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a service at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
