Republicans’ love affair with warfare costs our nation a lot

Throughout this country’s history there is a total of 58 years that we have not been at war. I just found this out. Isn’t that an amazing statistic? We are obsessed with spreading democracy around the world and every day American soldiers are losing their lives.

Our Republican majority in Congress is chomping at the bit to escalate the WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) war or start another one, but you know what’s interesting? Most of these war mongers have never served their country. They’re quick to send over someone else’s children to fight, but you can bet they wouldn’t send their own.

As far as going to war to help and then rebuild other countries, it doesn’t work because they don’t want to fight. They turn tail and run. The Republicans put our economy in the toilet and put us in debt that we will take decades to get back from. So, what’s the answer? How about spending our money on the U.S.A. infrastructure, jobs, education, and health care? Those are just a few of the items that need attention.

Corporations like Haliburton have used war as an excuse to swindle millions of dollars from the U.S. taxpayers. All of what Haliburton did was with a slap on the back from our then Vice President Dick Cheney. He still runs his mouth about broadening the war in Afghanistan.

Thank God we have a sane person in the White House who is winding down this unconstitutional and unnecessary war. The Republicans started the costly war in Iraq, but if there were any setbacks then they blamed them on the Democrats. This idea of shoving the blame on someone else is GOP tradition.
