North Side teen arrested for slashing his mother with pocket knife


YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested a 14-year-old boy at a home in the 700 block of Delaware Avenue about 1:20 p.m. Thursday after the boy’s mother was slashed several times with a knife.

According to police reports, the 34-year-old mother told police she and her son argued over food and he ran away. She called 911 to report him missing and he later returned to the North Side home, reports said.

Reports said when he returned the mother ordered him to go to his room. Instead, the boy pulled a pocket knife and slashed her several times, giving her cuts on her chest and arms and her shirt was also cut open.

The woman refused medical treatment, reports said. The boy was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.
