Man apprehended after fleeing from Campbell Municipal Court

CAMPBELL — A man attempted to flee from a court appearance this morning at the Campbell Municipal Courthouse.

About 10:48 a.m., police said Demetrius Dawson, 27, of Campbell appeared at the courthouse for a probation violation, but fled down Tenney Avenue, and ended up in an abandoned house on Bright Avenue.

Police pursued him, and found him upstairs of the house where they arrested him for escaping.

Dawson was among the five people charged from a major drug and weapons arrest Tuesday afternoon at an apartment on Monroe Street. During that incident, police said they found him with suspected marijuana and charged him with possession of drugs.
