Bake sale benefits humane society

COLUMBIANA

Home Savings Bank branches in Lisbon, Salem and East Palestine are sponsoring bake sales this week to benefit the Humane Society of Columbiana County, 1825 S. Lincoln Ave., Salem.

The humane society is a non-profit 501(c)3 animal protection and adoption center funded by donations.

“Bank on Second Chances for the Love of Animals” is the theme of the sale that will provide baked goods, candy bouquets, stuffed animals and animal-related valentine cards.

GIRARD

Girard Historical Society is accepting memberships for 2015.

The Historical Society preserves the history of Girard and maintains the Barnhisel Home, 1011 N. State St, which houses the historical society artifacts and is the site of tours and open houses during the year.

Memberships are $10 for individual, $15 dollars for family, $3 for students and $25 for organizations.

Life memberships are also available.

Drive-through dinner at church today

NORTH LIMA

Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., will have a drive-through chicken dinner from 3 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) today.

Dinners consist of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie.

The cost is $7. Drive up to the door, and a volunteer will bring the meal to your car.

Society membership campaign under way

MCDONALD

The Historical Society of McDonald recently began its annual membership campaign. Memberships help pay for preservation of historical materials with the help of a trained curator.

The society’s purpose is to collect and preserve historical artifacts of McDonald. Memberships are $10 for an individual, $50 for patron or $100 for business or organization.

Membership is open to the public and members need not be a resident of McDonald.
