POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Feb. 7
Identity fraud: A South Hubbard Road man learned that his debit-card number had been compromised.
Feb. 8
Arrest: Brian C. Lunderwood, 29, of Cambridge Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody in the 2300 block of Clyde Street on a misdemeanor warrant.
BOARDMAN
Feb. 5
Identity theft: A Lockwood Boulevard man found out his identity had been used without authorization to secure a loan after a caller with a collection agency said he owed about $1,891.
Possible theft: A resident at a South Avenue long-term-care facility said she believed someone had stolen a $500 diamond ring and a $500 wristwatch from her room.
Theft: A man in his 20s stole a DVD and three books from Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road.
Menacing: A Shadyside Drive woman alleged her former boyfriend has made and sent numerous unwanted calls and text messages, including a threat to damage her vehicle.
Feb. 6
Aggravated menacing: Two people alleged that four youngsters threatened to shoot their children, including the couple’s 9-year-old son, while the children were in the 5500 block of Market Street.
Theft: A 17-year-old Alliance boy was accused of stealing a $450 iPhone and an electronic computer notebook from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Identity fraud: A Crystal Drive man reported receiving a cellphone bill containing three numbers he had never used.
Bad check: A worker for Cyber Express, 6128 Market St., told police he inadvertently accepted a $743.57 check before realizing it had been drawn on a closed account.
Theft: Police charged Scott D. Holley of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, after accusing the 29-year-old of stealing roughly $17 worth of merchandise, including an energy drink, from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Feb. 7
Arrest: Police near Overhill Drive pulled over and arrested 21-year-old Damond L.M. Brown Jr. of Millcreek Boulevard, Boardman. He was wanted on a Liberty Township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a charge of obstructing official business.
Assault: Authorities in the 4100 block of South Avenue picked up Timothy L. Bowser, 43, of Nellbert Lane, Boardman, on a simple-assault charge after a Dec. 23 incident in which a security guard with a South Avenue bank alleged Bowser had intentionally hit her chest with his car door when she tried to intervene as he was assaulting a female passenger.
Citation: Victor M. Caez Jr., 32, was cited during a traffic stop near Southern Boulevard. Caez, of Indianola Road, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and marijuana possession.
Criminal damaging: A car in the 200 block of Reta Lane was found with a broken passenger-side window.
Theft: The rear license plate was stolen off a vehicle at a Doral Drive big-box store.
Arrest: Authorities responded to a complaint of an erratic driver on U.S. Route 224 before charging 32-year-old Apostolos D. Dovas with operating a vehicle impaired. Upon further investigation, police charged Dovas, of Harmony Lane, Campbell, with possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 100 block of Jennette Drive damaged a vehicle’s windshields and slashed a tire, causing $800 in damage.
Identity theft: A Meadowood Circle man found out someone without permission had used his personal information to file income-tax returns.
Theft: A woman stole a $10 pair of earrings from Walmart.
Domestic violence: Philip J. Busico, 39, of Hitchcock Road, Boardman, surrendered on a domestic-violence charge after his wife alleged he had struck her face during an argument outside a Market Street movie theater.
Drugs: A traffic stop in the 700 block of East Midlothian Boulevard led to a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 27-year-old Alicia D. Robinson of Logan Way, Hubbard, with marijuana possession.
Feb. 8
Assault: Police responded to a woman on Pheasant Drive possibly in distress before charging 28-year-old Melissa D. Buist of Huntington Drive, Boardman, with assault on a police officer, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. After taking her home and trying to cite her, authorities alleged an intoxicated Buist had tried to bite an officer after struggling with them and repeatedly refusing to follow their commands.
Theft: Stephanie L. Sattarelle, 31, of East Lucius Avenue, Youngstown, faced charges of theft and criminal trespassing after three articles of women’s clothing were stolen from Walmart. Also, Sattarelle was in the store despite having been issued a trespassing warning, police said.
Theft: A Columbus woman noticed her $700 iPhone missing while at a Boardman Plaza business.
Domestic violence: Troutman C. Hibbard, 76, of Ewing Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after a family member alleged that during an argument, Hibbard had tossed a full soda bottle and struck her face.
Theft/vandalism: An employee with a South Avenue motel reported a tenant had stolen a smoke detector from a room and damaged a portion of the ceiling while removing the device.
Menacing: A Wolosyn Circle woman told officers a neighbor threatened to harm her and called the accuser derogatory names during an argument.
Theft: James L. Marshall, 48, who listed township addresses on Sheridan Road and Wolosyn Circle, was charged in the theft of three items, including a toy, from Walmart.
Harassment: A Chester Drive woman said she got unwanted text messages, including a reference to prostitution.
Theft: Officers charged 50-year-old Angel L. Mendez Sr. of Shields Road, Boardman, with stealing 25 items valued at $146 from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Feb. 9
Arrest: Police arrested Imani R. Al-deen, 25, of East High Avenue, Youngstown, on a probation-violation charge after they pulled him over on Southern Boulevard.
Criminal mischief: Someone ransacked a vehicle in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue.
Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown girl was accused of taking a $52 dress from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.
Identity fraud: Two employees with the Boardman Local School District discovered someone had used their personal information to file fraudulent 2014 Ohio income-tax returns.
