Five charged with drugs and gun possession in Campbell
CAMPBELL — Five people face a variety of charges, including those involving drugs and weapons, after their arrest Tuesday afternoon at an apartment near Monroe Street.
Rakeem Gray of Campbell is charged with drug trafficking, and Demetrius Dawson of Campbell is charged with drug possession.
Bernard Hasley jr. of Youngstown is charged with carrying concealed weapons.
Jennette Shipton of Campbell is charged with child endangerment, and Stacey Gray of Campbell was arrested on an active warrant.
Police found a handgun, several small plastic bags containing more than 50 grams of suspected marijuana, and a gram of suspected heroin.
The charges came after police detained 10 people at the apartment after an inspector from the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, and police Chief Drew Rauzan checked the apartment at 2 p.m.
An altercation took place earlier in the day that escalated to the point of a handgun being fired into the residence.
According to a police report, Rauzan smelled a strong odor of marijuana and saw evidence of drug paraphernalia, which lead to a search of the apartment.
Shipton's 16-year-old daughter was also at the scene.
