1st all-female 7th District court panel hears case
YOUNGSTOWN — The first-ever all-female three-judge panel of the 7th District Court of Appeals heard oral arguments this morning.
Gregory Mayes, 30, of Austintown, appealed his Boardman court conviction for threatening domestic violence, saying he was denied due process of law because the evidence was insufficient to convict him.
The three judges hearing this morning’s arguments in this case were Judge Carol Ann Robb, whose six-year term on the appeals court began Monday, and Judges Mary DeGenaro and Cheryl L. Waite.
The 10 days Mayes was sentenced to serve in jail were stayed pending the appeal, in which the panel will issue a written ruling at a later date.
