Three arraigned on drug charges

Three people were arraigned on felony drug charges Monday in municipal court before Magistrate Anthony Sertick for separate traffic stops over the weekend.
About 12:25 a.m. Monday, Teresa Light, 51, of Volney Road, was found at West Delason and Summer avenues by police after they responded to an alarm at a Volney Road home for a man and a woman fighting.
Reports said the man told police he was arguing with Light because she was taking drugs.
When officers found her walking, she had a crack pipe. She also had a bag of cocaine in her bra and a syringe in her purse, accordign to reports. She is in the Mahoning County jail on $10,000 bond on charges of possession of cocaine, a felony, and possession of drug- abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Also arraigned was 32-year-old Jesse Lavin of Elm Street, who was given a bond of $10,000 on a felony charge of possession of drug as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled over a car Lavin was driving about 3:20 a.m. Sunday on state Route 170 for an equipment violation, and just before he pulled over at a gas station, a front tire fell off the car, reports said.
A police dog from Boardman found two bags of crack inside the car, and Lavin also had a bag of marijuana in his sock and a crack pipe in his underwear, reports said.
Arraigned on a third- degree felony charge of possession of heroin was 31-year-old Christopher Carlson of Franklin, Pa., who was arrested about 9:20 p.m. Friday at West Warren and Hillman avenues. Reports said a car Carlson was driving was pulled over because it ran a red light. Reports said when the car stopped, Carlson and a woman in the front seat switched seats.
A police dog was used, and officers found a large bag of heroin in the car and a smaller bag of heroin in his jeans, reports said. Reports said Carlson told police he had just spent $500 on the heroin. The woman he switched seats with, Kayce Jo Henry, 26, no address given, was issued a summons on misdemeanor charges of possessing drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after paraphernalia was found in her purse. She was released after her arraignment Monday and has a court date set for March 9.
