Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

A Ten-Minute Play Festival, featuring four 10-minute plays, will be presented Friday and Saturday in Spotlight Arena Theater in Bliss Hall on the Youngstown State University Campus.

The event is being staged by Alpha Psi Omega, the student fraternity of the university theater. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The festival will feature four plays exploring different facets of love and relationships. Original one-minute segments interspersed between the 10-minute plays written by current YSU theater students during a playwriting class will also debut.

“Your Kiss is on My List,” written by Christopher Lockheardt and directed by Claudia Gage, tells the story of a woman with an obsession for first kisses and a stranger she meets at the bus stop.

“Give and Take,” written by Bara Swain and directed by Zara Markman, follows two young teenagers facing the awkwardness that goes along with losing their virginity.

“Beer Girl,” written by Walter Wykes and directed by Eric Shonk, is the story of an inebriated man who builds his ideal woman out of beer cans. But will he find his love returned?

“The Singing Telegram,” written by Laurie Allen and directed by Ashley Whited, shows us what can happen when you combine love, forgiveness and horrible singing.

One-minute transitional segments include “Coffee break” by Molly Lukehart; “Like Animals” by Connor Bezeredi; “He Should be in Bed” by Chris Hager; and “Housewarming” by Amber Palmer.

Other students directing or performing are: Christopher Hage, Alexander Samuels, Molly Lukehart, Quincy Carrier, Angelique Tanner, Stefon Funderburke, Connor Bezeredi, Rachel Stanko, Rebecca Potkanowicz, Beth Shiller and Amber Palmer.

Tickets are $8 ($5 for senior citizens and all students). Due to the nature of some of the content, this performance is for adults and children age 13 and above.

Tickets are all general admission. Call the box office at 330-941-3105.

All who attend the Valentine’s Day evening performance will receive a free flower and chocolates.
