Kings 4, Blue Jackets 3

COLUMBUS

Jeff Carter and Dwight King each had a goal and an assist, and Jonathan Quick stopped 23 shots to lead Los Angeles. Tyler Toffoli and Dustin Brown also scored for the Kings, and Brayden McNabb added two assists. Scott Hartnell, playing in his 1,000th NHL game, notched his 263rd goal. David Savard had a goal and an assist, and Jack Skille and scored for the Blue Jackets. Curtis McElhinney had 40 saves. Savard’s goal with 1:53 remaining drew Columbus within 4-3. Quick made four late saves to preserve the lead. Carter, a former Blue Jackets player continually booed by Columbus fans for asking to be traded, helped the Kings win the Stanley Cup after the deal three years ago. He has scored seven goals in 12 games against the Blue Jackets. Carter hadn’t had a point in the previous four games, but he raised his career point total to 498.

Oilers 2, Devils 1

NEWARK, N.J.

Nail Yakupov shook off an early mid-ice collision and scored a game-winning power-play goal in the second period to lead the Edmonton. Jordan Eberle had the primary assist on Yakupov’s goal, and helped set up defenseman Oscar Klefbom’s tally as the Oilers snapped a two-game losing streak. Ben Scrivens made 13 saves in sending the Devils to their second straight loss. Edmonton (15-30-9) has the fewest wins in the NHL. Patrik Elias scored for the Devils, who had gone 8-2-2 in their previous 12. Cory Schneider had 22 saves.

Wild 5, Canucks 3

ST. PAUL, MINN.

Jason Pominville and Ryan Suter scored power-play goals, and Devan Dubnyk earned another victory in the net, guiding Minnesota for its sixth straight win in regulation. Jordan Schroeder got his first goal with the Wild, against the team that drafted him, and Nino Niederreiter and Kyle Brodziak also scored to send Canucks goalie Ryan Miller to an early exit midway through the second period. The Wild raised their record to 8-1-1 in the last 10 games, all with Dubnyk in goal since his arrival in a trade. They moved within three points of the cut for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, against which they are 17-10-4 with seven consecutive victories in a row. Zack Kassian, Shawn Matthias and Ryan Stanton scored goals and Dan Hamhuis had two assists for the Canucks.
