YOUNGSTOWN
Police say a man who crashed his car into a utility pole in the 3000 block of Market Street about 4:40 p.m. Saturday and walked away had a blood-alcohol content of more than double the legal limit for driving.
Police responding to the wreck found no one inside the car and were then told by witnesses that a man with a bloody nose walked away. Officers found Peter Bugno, 42, of Appleridge Circle in Boardman, on East Philadelphia Avenue with a bloody nose and wearing the same clothes the driver was said to be wearing.
According to police, Bugno admitted drinking and flunked a field-sobriety test. He was taken to the police station for a breath-analysis test, where his blood-alcohol content registered 0.216, reports said. The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08. Police cited Bugno for driving under the influence and released him with a court date later this month.
