Learn to read and decipher food labels and how information on labels relate to health during a “Healthy Eating for You: Label Reading” presentation at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Willow Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St.

Registered dietician and community educator Bridget Lackey will lead an informational discussion and answer questions. The program, provided by Mercy Health Youngstown, formerly Humility of Mary Health Partners, is free and open to the public, but reservations are appreciated. Call 330-480-3070.

Keynote to address minority health

Dr. Kimberly Jackson of the Pinn Family Practice is keynote speaker for the Trumbull County NAACP annual Health Fair from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the ACOP Center, 2051 Niles Road S.E. in Warren. Her topic is “Health Issues in the Minority Communities.”

The NAACP’s national agenda includes a four-tiered approach to improving the health and wellness of people of color: Health Young People Everywhere (Get H.Y.P.E.); childhood obesity, health reform, and act against HIV. Get H.Y.P.E. was developed to target healthy living messages to youths and young adults with a special focus on college.

‘Be Well’ videos

Mercy Health (formerly Catholic Health Partners), a Catholic health-care ministry serving Ohio and Kentucky, has devoted the third of its monthly “Mercy Health: Helping You Be Well” videos to heart disease and stroke, the top two causes of death in the world.

In five videos on Mercy Health’s YouTube channel, Mercy Health physicians address a variety of key heart attack and stroke topics, including prevention, symptoms, risk factors, treatment, surgical options and what to do if symptoms are present.

‘Eat Right for Your Type’ seminar

Dr. Ted Suzelis is offering a free seminar, “How to Eat and Live Right for Your Blood Type,“ at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ohio Naturopathic Wellness Center in the SouthBridge West Complex, 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, Suite D-3.

The doctor will discuss the scientific background behind the “Eat Right for Your Type” diet as well as dietary and lifestyle guidelines for each blood type.

Beginning yoga

Beginning yoga will be offered from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. or 7 to 8:15 p.m. each Monday, March 2 through April 13, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. S.E., Warren. Certified yoga instructor Dawn Perhacs will lead the adults-only class.

Cholesterol seminar
