House fire in Sharon causes much damage
SHARON, Pa
Fire crews in Mercer County battled a morning house fire Sunday.
Crews were called to a home on South Oakland Avenue in Sharon shortly after 4 a.m, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast news partner.
No one was inside the home at the time, and there are no reported injuries.
The two-alarm fire caused significant damage to the basement and first floor of the home, but there has not been an estimated cost of the damage as of yet. The Sharon Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
Fashion designer plans talk at YSU

Renowned couture fashion designer and Youngstown State University alumnus Angel Rivera will give a presentation at 2 p.m. Feb. 19, in the Presidential Suite of Kilcawley Center.
The event is sponsored by Students in Fashion and Interiors at YSU. After receiving his degree in fashion studies at YSU, Rivera moved to New York and has since worked with the industry’s top fashion houses, including Amsale, Kenneth Pool, Christos, Kirstie Kelly and Kleinfeld.
History conference

About 100 students and faculty from across the region are expected to attend the History Across the Humanities Conference on Thursday and Friday at Youngstown State University.
Presented by Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, the conference will include workshops, panel discussions and student presentations and feature a keynote address by Patricia N. Williamsen, executive director of Ohio Humanities, at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Youngstown Historical Center of Labor and Industry on Wood Street. Saving energy to be focus of lecture

Annie Gilleo, state policy research analyst for The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, will present a lecture titled “Keeping Score on Energy Efficiency,” a strategy to generate cost-savings, promote technological innovation and stimulate growth. The lecture will be Room B112 of Cushwa Hall at 7 p.m. Wednesday and is part of the YSU Speaker Series on Energy and the Environment.
