Campbell police arrest duo after traffic stop


CAMPBELL — Police arrested two men after a traffic stop late afternoon Sunday.

Lawrence McRae III of Youngstown was charged with misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence and speeding in his green Ford van.

Charlie Baker of Youngstown was a passenger in the van. He was charged for drug possession.

According to the police, McRae ignored police signals to pull over after caught speeding and running a red light at the intersection of McCartney Road and 6th Street. Police pursued the vehicle until it reached Plazaview Apartments near McGuffey Road.

Baker advised to police that he was carrying drugs, according to the report. Police found a plastic bag containing 0.6 grams of suspected marijuana.

McRae's blood alcohol content sample was reported at 0.125. He was transported to Mahoning County jail pending a court appearance at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Baker was released on a summons to appear in court at the same time, and date.
