Break-in reported at home of homicide victim
YOUNGSTOWN — Police reports said someone broke into the home of an elderly man who was killed in his Oakwood Avenue home.
Police were called to the home of Mykola Iwaniuk, 84, about 4:55 p.m. Friday by one of his daughters, who said she had secured the home about 8 p.m. Wednesday, but when she arrived she found a front window pried open, several drawers rifled through and a can of beer in a paper bag.
Iwaniuk was found dead in his home Jan. 21. A man from nearby North Maryland Avenue is jailed in his death.
