Davis, Sarandon mull ‘Thelma & Louis’ anniversary tour
NEW YORK
Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon may be heading out on the road again — a quarter-century after the release of their Oscar-winning film “Thelma & Louise.”
Davis says she and Sarandon are hashing out ways to mark the 25th anniversary of the film about a girls’ road trip gone bad.
“There’s still so much affection for the movie, and we loved it,” Davis says. “It seems like there should be some girl-power celebrating going on.”
Davis and Sarandon, who still remain good friends, came up with the idea. Davis says now they’re talking over how to do it, focusing on a possible “live show or a tour.” She says they’re still trying to figure out “what’s possible” but says “people seem to like the idea.”

Screenwriter and two-time Academy Award nominee Stewart Stern, who’s best known for writing the screenplay for Nicholas Ray’s “Rebel Without a Cause,” has died. He was 92.
The Writers Guild of America West says Stern died Monday at a Seattle hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Stern was a World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He also penned the scripts for “The Last Movie,” “The Ugly American,” “Rachel, Rachel,” and other films and television movies during a Hollywood career that spanned more than 50 years.
Winfrey says public response to ‘Selma’ is biggest reward
NEW YORK
Oprah Winfrey is more than happy with how “Selma” has been received, no matter how few Oscar nominations.
During a telephone interview Friday, Winfrey said that from the moment the civil-rights movie she helped produce was given a standing ovation at its first audience screening, she felt the filmmakers had “already won.”
Many were surprised that “Selma” received only two nominations, including for best picture. But Winfrey spoke of the public response, noting that hundreds of thousands of students have seen the film and learned from it.
“The conversation is worth everything to us,” she said. “You want the message to be received. You want the power of your creation to be received.”
The film has earned $43.5 million at domestic theaters since its release six weeks ago.
