POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent police activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Jan. 27

Drugs: A traffic stop on North Main Street led to marijuana-possession charges against a Youngstown boy, 17, along with 19-year-old Tyler J. Brown of Mayfield Avenue, Youngstown. Both admitted having two small bags of suspected marijuana, police said.

Feb. 2

Theft: A man reported two wristwatches, a gold bracelet and money missing from his Moore Street residence. The loss was estimated at $1,290.

LIBERTY

Jan. 28

Menacing: A Mansell Drive woman reported her 17-year-old daughter received text messages and a call asking that the girl take the blame for setting up a robbery in Niles, causing the teen to fear for her safety.

Domestic violence: Jasma C. Grace, 32, of Alameda Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime as police investigated a possible shoplifting situation at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. A loss-prevention official saw Grace punch her daughter’s head as they left the store, then Grace repeatedly struck the daughter’s head and face while in their vehicle, a report stated.

Drugs: Officers received information about a reckless driver on Belmont Avenue before charging 30-year-old Jason A. Maynard of Hall Avenue, Andover, with operating a vehicle impaired and possession of a dangerous drug. Maynard had a bag containing 12 Diazepam pills, which are commonly used to treat muscle spasms, seizures, anxiety and other medical conditions, a report showed.

Robbery: A Homestead Road woman told authorities that while removing snow from her driveway, a man age 20 to 25 in a dark-blue vehicle knocked her to the ground, causing an injury, and, with another man’s help, placed her $800 snow blower in the car.

Jan.29

Arrest: Police picked up 23-year-old Anthony J. Cleveland at the Mahoning County jail. Cleveland, of Colonial Drive, Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant.

Jan. 30

Arrest: After searching on Marlane Drive for a child who had run away from home, authorities charged a 15-year-old Hubbard girl with two counts of receiving stolen property. The teen, who also was wanted on a probation-violation charge, was accused of stealing a vehicle and two credit cards.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Warner Road woman said her teenage daughter took the accuser’s 1999 Jeep Cherokee without permission.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed her wallet and $300 missing while shopping at a Goldie Road store.

Identity fraud: A Madison Road woman learned that her personal information had been used without authorization to file a fraudulent income-tax return and to fraudulently file for Social Security disability benefits.

Jan. 31

Arrest: Authorities pulled over Charles D. Fearer of Clinton Street, Niles, in the Liberty Plaza before discovering the 23-year-old Fearer was wanted on two Youngstown warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Feb. 1

Criminal damaging: Someone broke a large plate-glass window at Rent One in the Liberty Plaza, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Arrest: Police assisting the Ohio State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop on state Route 193 charged 24-year-old Kenneth J. Cunningham with obstructing official business and resisting arrest after alleging Cunningham, of Cadwallader-Sonk Road, Cortland, refused to follow their commands, then became belligerent and combative as they spoke with another person in the car.

Domestic violence: A Youngstown boy, 17, was charged after his mother alleged that while at a Biscayne Road home, the teen had pushed the accuser and tried to hit her during an argument related to his unruly behavior.

Feb. 2

Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to arrest 46-year-old Pamela Clay of Fairgreen Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

Arrest: An officer who questioned a teenager walking on Church Hill-Hubbard Road in inclement weather and past curfew charged the 15-year-old township boy with obstructing official business after saying he had repeatedly lied about his address when the officer tried to take him home.

Feb. 3

Menacing: A Mill Run Drive woman told police she learned via text messages to another person that her former boyfriend, 25, had been inquiring about how to damage her vehicle.

GIRARD

Feb. 1

Arrest: Authorities charged Ashley N. Croft of Roseway Avenue, Youngstown, with disorderly conduct after saying the 31-year-old Croft screamed at officers and failed to desist as they investigated a possibly unruly juvenile on Abbey Street.

Feb. 2

Arrest: Officers answered a suspicious-person call near St. Clair Avenue before taking into custody 45-year-old David M. Leach of Church Hill Road, Girard. He was wanted on a warrant from Niles Municipal Court.

Arrest: Police arrested Phillip J. Davis, 20, of Verona Avenue, Girard, on a warrant.

Domestic violence: Patrick E. Connelly of South Randolph Street, Girard, was charged after his daughter alleged an intoxicated Connelly had struck her face during an argument. The accuser had a cut lip.

Feb. 3

Pursuit: Police who tried to pull over a driver near Church Hill Road for failing to yield reported the motorist led them on a chase along U.S. Route 422 before they called it off because of poor road conditions.
