Oversized load hits Tibbetts-Wick overpass on Route 11 South

Traffic is moving unimpeded again after an oversized load truck hit the right side of the Tibbetts Wick Road highway overpass at state Route 11.

At about 8:30 a.m. it looked like the truck's huge load had apparently gotten wedged. Traffic was stopping suddenly as police had not yet arrived.

It appeared as if the top piece of a large tank being hauled on a semi flatbed got crammed under the bridge. The truck driver was on top of the tank assessing the situation.

Later, police scanner traffic said there were no injuries and that a wrecker was being summoned.

By 9 a.m. the truck was gone.
