Poland Rotary plans 30th annual Chili Open Golf Classic

Poland Rotary will sponsor the 30th annual Chili Open Golf Classic at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 at Bedford Trails Golf Course. This unique and fun event, which takes place on the frozen tundra of Northeast Ohio, includes 18 holes of golf, beverages and music.

Sweeney Chevrolet and Republic Services are this year’s title sponsors. Wendy’s restaurant will provide chili to golfers and participants in the chili-eating contest. Other activities include a putting, closest to the pin and hole-in-one contests; door prizes; raffle; and music by The Chub Scouts.

Cost is $25 per person with some sponsorship levels still available.

Chili Open Golf Classic has raised more than 1 million dollars for local charities since it first came to the Mahoning Valley, and has been featured on The Weather Channel and in the national publication The Rotarian Magazine.

This year, the Poland Rotary is supporting the following charities for the work they do to better local communities: Boys & Girls Club, Down Syndrome Association of the Valley, Easter Seal Disability Services, Golden String Inc., Greater Western Reserve Council Boy Scouts, Hospice of the Valley, Inspiring Minds, Mahoning County Court-Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian Ad Litem, Mahoning County Public Special Olympics, Making Kids Count, Mission of Love, Poland Interfaith Pantry, Potential Development, Second Harvest Food Bank, Sister Jerome’s Poor at the Ursuline Center, Sojourner House and Yellow Brick Place.
