What: Planning your ornamental garden? Wanting some help on a garden design challenge? Bring any design problems or questions and a Fellows Riverside Gardens staff member can offer suggestions. Some basic sketching tools will be provided.

Orchid Walk-About

When: Saturday, 10:30–11:30 a.m.

What: Join one of our experts on an orchid walk highlighting main varieties of orchids displayed at the Davis Center.

The Comforts of Winter

When: Saturday, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

What: Enjoy light comforting foods while journaling about winter memories with Michelle O’Brien. Bring a notebook and writing tools of your choice.

BACKYARD SUGARING

When: Sunday, 2- 3:30 p.m.

What: Take a crash course in making maple syrup in your backyard before sugaring season begins. Tree ID, tapping demonstration and information on how to collect and boil sap will be included. Program takes place indoors and outdoors, rain or shine.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

EXPLORERS

When: Next Thursday, 10-11:30 a.m.

What: Explorers will learn to identify, tap and collect sap from maple trees to produce maple syrup. This is one in a two-part series for kids 7-11 years old.

Where: Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center Visitors Center, 16146 Daniel St. NE, Minerva.

Cost: Free

Details: Be prepared with boots or other appropriate footwear. Program takes place rain or shine. Registration limited and required and closes Tuesday.

Hearts & Chocolate

When: Next Thursday, 5:30–7:30 p.m.

What: Nothing says Valentine’s Day like hearts and chocolate. Enjoy an evening of creativity while painting an intuitive art masterpiece and learning about the wonders of chocolate (Theobroma cacao) with delicious samples. Lori Mowad and Mandy Smith are guides.
