Ohio parks agency sells mansion to employee

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A parks agency in Dayton has sold a mansion it owns to a current employee for $79,000 after listing it on the market for more than two years at more than $250,000.

The Dayton Daily News reports that the Five Rivers MetroParks sold its 7,400-square foot mansion on nearly five acres to one of its park managers. The 1920s home was formerly used as park administrative offices.

MetroParks officials say the offer was the best they received while the property near the Stillwater River was on the market for about 2 1/2 years. The house has significant structural and other issues.

Buyers David Spitler and his wife, Barbette, plan to turn it into an owner-occupied holistic healing center.

The sale was approved by the park board and county court.
