YOUNGSTOWN

Two men with multiple domestic-violence convictions or arrests were arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court on new domestic-violence charges in separate incidents.

Michael Crytzer, 38, of Wells Court, was arraigned Wednesday before Magistrate Anthony Sertick on a first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. He was arrested at his home about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Police were called for a fight and as an officer pulled up in front of the home he could hear a man inside yelling, reports said. Once inside, reports said the man’s wife told police her husband, Crytzer, was very drunk and had threatened to beat her and burn her house down.

Reports noted police have been called to the address 13 times in the past three months.

Assistant City Prosecutor Shelli Freeze told Sertick that Crytzer had past domestic-violence arrests in 1997, 2000 and in 2006, and the charge in 2006 was a fourth-degree felony.

Sertick set Crytzer’s bond at $7,500. He is in the Mahoning County jail, and Sertick ordered he have no contact with his wife or with his home if he makes bond.

Also arraigned was Hale Burkholder, 54, who was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Monday at a home in the 1600 block of First Street. Reports said when officers arrived, they found Burkholder naked and lying on the floor and very drunk.

A woman in the home said she had been arguing with Burkholder since 10 that morning and that he had grabbed her on the head and face. Officers noted a scratch on her head, reports said.

Reports said the woman told them Burkholder had assaulted her several years ago so severely she had a metal plate inserted in her head.

Freeze said Burkholder had been arrested in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2008. He was charged with a third-degree felony domestic violence because of his prior record. Sertick set his bond at $15,000. Burkholder also is in jail.
