Mahoning commissioners to name 10 merged board members
YOUNGSTOWN
The final steps of the planned Feb. 23 merger of the county mental-health and alcohol and addiction- services boards into the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board are expected to occur this week.
Today, the Mahoning County commissioners are slated to name 10 of the 18 members of the merged agency’s board, and the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services is expected to name its allotted eight members later in the week, said Duane Piccirilli, director of the county mental health board.
The Mental Health and Addiction Services consolidation committee has been meeting for several months deciding on board size and who would be recommended for membership; personnel policies; an organizational chart; and where the combined staff will be located.
The county ADAS is at 107 S. Champion St., and the mental health board has offices at 25 E. Boardman St. in the Ohio One Building. Both are in downtown Youngstown.
At its first meeting Feb. 23, the new Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board is expected to elect officers and choose a director after board members are sworn in by county Probate Court Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr., Piccirilli said.
Brenda Heidinger is executive director of the Mahoning County Alcohol & Drug Addiction Services.
Maurina “Nina” Hanna is chairwoman of the Mahoning County ADAS Board, and Edgar Manning is chairman of the Mahoning County Mental Health Board.
