Pelini: YSU needed depth, numbers

— Youngstown State football coach Bo Pelini wanted to increase the program's depth and overall numbers with the recruiting class of 2015.

"In a short amount of time, we were able to accomplish what we wanted to accomplish," Pelini said.

The first-year coach said he felt the team needed depth and numbers.

The Penguins offered partial scholarships to some players as a way to reach their targeted numbers. But, Pelini said, the work isn't done.

"In my opinion, recruiting doesn't end today," he said. "It's time to get them coached up."
