GBS buys interest in orthopedic center

YOUNGSTOWN

The GBS Corp. of North Canton, parent company of GBS Computer Solutions Division in Youngstown, has purchased 49.65 percent interest in Summa Health System’s Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center.

Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center is a specialty hospital with locations in Summit, Medina and Portage counties and in Austintown. The sale was closed Dec. 16, 2014.

The employee-owned GBS Corp., a technology and information-solutions provider of diverse products and services, did not make public the purchase cost. A company spokeswoman said Summa and Crystal Clinic plan no changes in patient care or services because of the transaction.

GBS’ Computer Solutions Division in Youngstown provides health care information systems and NextGen practice-management software.

Cortland dividend

Cortland Bancorp, the holding company for Cortland Savings and Banking Co., announced that its board of directors increased its quarterly cash dividend 20 percent to $0.06 per share, from $0.05 per share, providing a current yield of 1.51 percent at current market prices. The dividend will be payable March 3 to shareholders of record as of the close of business Feb. 17.

Bourbon, whiskey sales up by 9.6%

LOUISVILLE, Ky.

New figures show producers of Kentucky bourbon and Tennessee whiskey scored another round of U.S. sales growth in 2014, while exports topped $1 billion.

The Distilled Spirits Council said Tuesday that when mixed together, U.S. revenues for bourbon and Tennessee whiskey rose by 9.6 percent to $2.7 billion last year.
