Lawmakers press administration for details on governor's budget proposal
COLUMBUS
State lawmakers pressed the administration Tuesday on details of Gov. John Kasich’s biennial budget, voicing concern about tax increases and other proposals.
The first hearing on the two-year spending plan before the Ohio House’s Finance Committee offered the first indications of how the Republican-controlled chamber could end up changing the governor’s plan.
The lengthy hearing included comments from Kasich’s budget director, Tim Keen, who outlined the results of the last biennial budget, economic factors that were considered in developing the new budget and the philosophy behind policy changes being proposed.
