Reports said police found a .38-caliber revolver with the serial number filed off and suspected heroin early Sunday inside a home in the 100 block of Hilton Avenue while looking for suspects in an aggravated burglary on nearby East Judson Avenue.

Reports said police were led to the home about 12:15 a.m. Sunday by witnesses who said the burglars had gone there, and the homeowner, 36-year-old George Price Jr., gave them permission to search the home.

The burglars were not found, but on a kitchen counter, police found suspected heroin and in a bedroom they found the revolver, which was in plain sight, reports said. Price was arrested on charges of possession of heroin and possession of a defaced firearm and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Fires damage two houses in city

City firefighters dealt with two occupied-house fires Saturday.

About 3:30 a.m., crews were called to an 838 Dryden Ave. home and found a fire in a first- floor room, reports said. The home had no heat, and there were several extension cords and space heaters where the fire started.

The owner, another person and two dogs and a cat all got out of the home safely. Damage is listed at $6,200. No one was injured.

About 1:45 a.m., crews were called to a home at 258 Crandall Ave. where two Youngstown State University students saw fire inside and pounded on the door of the house. Reports said the person inside said his smoke detector also went off at the same time the students pounded on his door. The fire spread to the cabinets and a wall before it was extinguished, reports said.

Damage there is listed at $5,000. No one was injured.

3 suffer gunshot wounds at lounge

WARREN

Three men were sent to the hospital with gunshot wounds, two of them shot in the torso, and a fourth man suffered a serious head injury from being hit in the head with a chair during a fight at the Paradise Lounge on North Park Avenue.

No one was arrested early Saturday, and police have no suspects, said Lt. Jeff Cole of the Warren Police Department. “It started as a bar fight,” Cole said of the 1:15 a.m. incident. “The end result was a guy got hit with a chair and gunshots ring out.”

A 28-year-old Burton Street Southeast man was taken to the hospital for a “severe laceration” to the head as a result of being hit with the chair, according to a Warren police report.

Shot in the torso were men age 23 and 19 of Taylor Street Northwest and of Burton Street Southwest, respectively. A fourth man,of Larchmont Avenue Northeast, was shot in the arm. No further information was provided.

Facing drug charges

Police arrested Walter Pearson of Youngstown on a felony charge of drug trafficking Saturday afternoon.

Pearson was driving a white Chevrolet Suburban that was pulled over after running a stop sign, according to the report.

The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. He also found numerous driving suspensions on Pearson’s record, which led to an arrest and search. Police found three plastic bags, two containing suspected heroin, and the other containing suspected marijuana. Additionally, police found $4,098 on Pearson, who was taken to Mahoning County jail pending a court appearance at 9 a.m. today.

A Youngstown woman faces multiple drug-related charges after she was arrested during a traffic stop.

LaDonna Taylor, 29, of Hunter Avenue, was arrested Saturday on a warrant charge of failure to appear, misdemeanor charges of obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony charge of aggravated possession of drugs.

When police stopped her, Taylor reportedly said she did not have identification with her, did not know her Social Security number and then tried to give police a false name, but was unable to spell it, give the correct date of birth or address.

After Taylor was arrested for obstructing official business, police found suspected cocaine, pills and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

Taylor was taken to the Mahoning County jail, pending an appearance in Mahoning County Area Court today.

Sisters jailed

WARREN

Sisters were taken to the Trumbull County Jail on Monday from their Commerce Avenue Northwest home after one of them suffered a stab wound.

Police arrived to find Devonni L. Morgan, 24, hiding in the basement under a blanket. She admitted to officers that she had been drinking, but she kept changing her story as to whether her sister stabbed her or she stabbed herself.

Mindy S. Morgan, 29, said she and Devonni fought after Devonni broke pictures and a coffee table. Mindy had blood on her hand, police said.

Devonni was taken to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where she received three stitches, and then to the Trumbull County Jail. Police did not give the location of the stab wound.

Mindy pleaded not guilty in Warren Municipal Court to felonious assault, and bond was set at $3,500. Devonni pleaded not guilty to domestic violence, and bond was set at $1,500.
