Residential garbage collection within the city of Youngstown will be affected by winter weather conditions.
Waste Management will be running a day late through Friday.
City residents should place their garbage at the curb for collection on the day after their normal collection day. Recycling collection within the city is not affected by weather conditions and will be collected as scheduled.
Parent information sessions planned
Parent information sessions about the new Valley STEM+ME2 Academy are set for 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahoning County Educational Service Center, 100 DeBartolo Place, Suite 220, Boardman; from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the YWCA in Warren’s Community Room; and from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Austintown Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County on Raccoon Road.

The school, scheduled to open this fall, has an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics plus manufacturing, energy and entrepreneurship. It was initiated by the MCESC, and involves partner districts Austintown, Canfield, Jackson-Milton, Poland and Struthers, but the school will be open to students from all over Ohio.
The school will accept up to 100 freshmen for the 2015-16 school year with additional freshmen classes of the same size accepted in subsequent years. Enrollment will be limited to about 400.
Body found on East Side of city
YOUNGSTOWN
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body on the city’s East Side.
Police found a body Friday night on Duncan Lane. Investigators tell 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, they do not suspect foul play.
The coroner is still working to determining the cause of death which may be related to the cold weather. The name of the victim has not been released.
Traffic stops made during Super bowl
BOARDMAN
Boardman police made 40 traffic stops, issued 14 citations, and arrested one motorist who failed to appear in court on a driving under suspension charge on Super Bowl Sunday, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV. Five officers patrolled from 6 p.m. Sunday until 3 a.m. Monday.
