Youngstown declaring snow emergency
YOUNGSTOWN — The city has declared a snow emergency effective at 1 p.m. today. The declaration is in effect until further notice.
During a snow emergency, parking is prohibited on all streets except streets or alleys with a width of 25 feet or less that doesn’t have driveways.
Any vehicle parked in violation of the ban is subject to removal by towing at the owner’s expense.
A snow emergency declaration happens when there is an accumulation of at least 4 inches of snow, and it is necessary to alleviate a potential public health and safety hazard, said Charles Shasho, deputy director of the city’s public-works department.
