Three-car accident injures 6 on Rt. 224

A three-car accident on U.S. Route 224 near Canfield sent six people to the hospital Sunday afternoon with minor injuries, said the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The OSHP said one vehicle went left of center and hit the other two in the 1:26 p.m. accident.

There were no other details available Sunday afternoon.

Block Watch to meet Tuesday on East Side

The Bryn Mawr (East Side) Block Watch will meet from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Martin Luther King Elementary School, 2724 Mariner Ave. The group will discuss community affairs, with a particular focus on safety after many recent break-ins in the neighborhood.

Dada art display planned in Warren

A two-floor art event will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Artisan Cafe, 410 S. Main Street.

Fifteen local artists will offer multimedia, video, print, readings, collaborative performance and interactive pieces inspired by the Dadaism philosophy/movement from the early 20th Century.

Artists will showcase projects outside the area of what is safe and focus more on thought-provoking, spontaneous and nonconformist works.

The Warren Trolley will provide transportation for those wanting covered parking to and from the Franklin Street Parking Deck.

‘Backyard Aliens’ focus of program

“Know Your Backyard Aliens: Invasive Species 101,” is the topic of a free program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. March 18 at the Ohio State University Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St.

ATV accident injures one in Brookfield

One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after an ATV crashed into a car head-on on Sharon-Bedford Road on Sunday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported. Two ATVs were side by side when one tried to pass the other and hit the car, the patrol said. The ATV driver was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Maple Sugar Day

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will host a Maple Sugaring Day for Scouts on March 21.

Scouts between age 7 and 11 will participate in a two-hour program that unravels the mystery of how a tree works and demonstrates the art of maple sugaring from past to present. The program will begin indoors and will move outside for a guided walk featuring a working evaporator and a taste of real maple syrup.

The event will be offered twice, from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. Each scout will receive an embroidered patch.

Cub Scout den leaders and Girl Scout troop leaders must pre-register their scouts for either session by calling the Jennings Center at 724-794-1090 on Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Leaders may also pre-register in person Wednesday during the same hours. The program fee is $2 per person, and space is limited. Scout leaders will need to confirm and pre-pay for an accurate number of registered participants by Feb. 27.

Box choices range in price from $20 to $40 and include meat and vegetables box, convenience meals, kid’s box, healthy choice box, breakfast box and pasta box. There are no income restrictions or guidelines.

Mail-in orders will be accepted with payment of postal or bank money order or certified check to New Hope UM Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, OH, 44446.
