POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Jan. 21
Arrest: Nicholas J. Policastro, 28, who listed addresses on Erie Street in Hubbard and Second Street in Masury, was taken into custody in the 800 block of North Main Street. He was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Drugs: A Hubbard officer cleaning his cruiser found on the passenger-side seat a bag containing 0.05 grams of suspected marijuana.
Animal complaint: A 53-year-old Rebecca Avenue woman received a minor-misdemeanor citation after a neighbor reported two loose dogs had attacked her dog.
Aggravated menacing: A teacher at Hubbard Middle School, 250 Hall Ave., reported a 13-year-old student threatened to kill her after the student left the classroom after having become frustrated with another student.
Jan. 22
Arrest: Officers arrested 31-year-old Sean M. O’Donnell as he returned to his Bentley Avenue residence. The Hubbard man was wanted on a charge of failing to appear in court on a theft count.
Jan. 23
Arrest: A traffic stop on Stewart Avenue resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Danielle Lopuchovsky of Stewart, Hubbard, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired. Lopuchovsky had been driving erratically and had a blood-alcohol count of 0.196, more than twice the legal limit, a report showed.
Trespassing: An East Liberty Street woman said her brother, 25, was on her property against her wishes. He received a criminal-trespassing warning.
LIBERTY
Jan. 21
Arrest: Jeffrey T. Shorter, 46, of Orange Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue on an outstanding warrant.
Arrests: After pulling a vehicle over near Frederick Street, police arrested 65-year-old Edgar S. Davis Sr. of Frederick, Liberty, on a warrant charging failure to appear in court. Also, Lance Simmons, 31, of Gluck Street, Youngstown, was cited on a charge of driving under suspension.
Assault: An elderly Williamsfield, Ohio, man alleged a Girard man, 25, had struck his head during an argument in the 200 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
Theft: Two men reportedly stole $72 worth of candy and other small items from a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave.
Arrest: Donna M. Dibo, 33, of Fifth Street, Campbell, was turned over to township police. She was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Arrest: Officers were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to take custody of 20-year-old Mi’Quaysha D. Hamlett of Ravenwood Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a township warrant.
Arrest: Shannon D. Jordan, 26, of Republic Street, Youngstown, was arrested in downtown Youngstown on a township warrant.
Harassment: A Colonial Drive woman told police her former boyfriend has sent her such Facebook messages and that he threatened to harm the accuser and her current boyfriend.
Arrest: Youngstown police handed Amanda L. Holmes of 13th Street, Campbell, to Liberty authorities. The 24-year-old woman was wanted on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on traffic violations.
Theft: A man in his 50s stole about $640 worth of meat products from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave.
Jan. 22
Theft: A Youngstown man at a Motor Inn Drive motel discovered 140 Oxycodone pills, $400 and several pocket knives missing from his room.
Jan. 23
Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up 24-year-old Brittany N. Gromley of Federal Street Northwest, Warren. She was wanted on two township warrants charging theft.
Identity theft: A Logan Arms Drive woman learned after having her 2014 income taxes prepared that someone without authorization had used her Social Security number to process a refund.
Arrest: A traffic stop on state Route 193 led to the arrest of 23-year-old Oscar L. Akins of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown, on a city warrant charging failure to appear in court. Akins also was charged with having no operator’s license.
Jan. 24
Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 27-year-old Kevin D. Henderson to township authorities. Henderson, of Market Street, Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Arrest: Austintown authorities relinquished custody of Jenice R. Haralson, 23, of Oak Street, Warren, to township police. Haralson was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.
Jan. 25
Arrest: Lonnie E. Showers of Laurel Street, Liberty, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired after police had pulled the 27-year-old man over near Logan Way. Showers’ blood-alcohol count was 0.143, a report showed.
Drugs: A traffic stop on Motor Inn Drive resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Earl B. Lewis on a charges of marijuana possession and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Lewis, of Signature Drive, Liberty, had pieces of suspected marijuana and tried to swallow a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana, a report said.
Arrest: Authorities picked up Melissa A. Gibson, 31, of Clifton Drive Northeast, Warren, who was wanted on outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrants.
GIRARD
Jan. 23
Menacing: A North Avenue woman alleged her landlord has made implied threats against her regarding ongoing civil matters between them.
Theft: A woman reported her wallet missing while at a North State Street grocery store.
Jan. 24
Menacing: An East Kline Street man said he’s received a series of unsettling text messages from someone claiming to be monitoring his movements. The accuser also reported being stalked.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Parkview Drive woman said her son took her Honda Accord without permission. The son later was cited on a charge of driving without a license.
Jan. 25
Arrest: Boardman police handed 50-year-old Robin Betts to township authorities. Betts, of Penhale Avenue, Campbell, was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Theft: Jeremy J. Potts, 30, of East Liberty Street, Girard, was charged with stealing energy drinks from Expresso Market, 143 E. Liberty.
Arrest: Officers responding to a possible fight on Elruth Court charged 38-year-old Ronald G. Madden of Elruth Court, Girard, with disorderly conduct after alleging Madden refused to obey their commands, including having been asked to calm down.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 30 block of Steel Street and took a $400 snow blower.
Jan. 26
Criminal damaging: A man reported damage to his truck that came to about $2,000 while near Pleasant Valley Road. He also received a summons charging criminal trespassing alleging he had been on private property when the vehicle sustained the damage.
Identity fraud: An Apache Drive woman told police a caller claiming to represent a credit-card company said she could qualify for lower interest-rate payments but first needed to provide her card number and other pieces of personal information.
Jan. 27
Theft by deception: A Squaw Creek Drive man reported having received a call claiming his grandson was in jail on a charge of drunken driving and that $3,000 was needed to get him out. The accuser was instructed to withdraw $6,500 via money cards before he learned the grandson was in class at Akron University. He realized it was a scam and lost no money.
