A northeast Ohio sheriff’s office has identified two inmates who died in their cells last week in unrelated incidents.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday said Timothy Francis Corrigan and Kristi Jean Ellis, both 25, were found dead at the county jail within 12 hours of each other.

Corrigan, of Mentor, was found unresponsive the evening of Dec. 21. Officials aren’t sure yet why he died. He was arrested Dec. 16 on charges including violating a protection order and resisting arrest.

Ellis, also of Mentor, was found the morning of Dec. 22. Officials think she overdosed on heroin that another inmate smuggled into the jail. She was arrested Nov. 4 on a probation violation related to a theft charge.

The medical examiner will rule on both cases.
