A list of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for the New Year holiday. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Youngstown, Niles, Salem, Sharon, Warren, closed Friday; New Castle, Newton Falls Municipal Court, early closing at noon Thursday and closed Friday.

County offices: Mahoning, Mercer, Lawrence, Columbiana, closed Friday; Trumbull, early closing at 12:30 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday.

State and federal offices: Closed Friday. No mail delivery Friday.

Schools: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Sharon, New Castle, Youngstown Diocese, closed through Monday.

Universities: Kent State at Trumbull, Eastern Gateway Community College, closed through Monday; Youngstown State, business offices closed Thursday and Friday.

Western Reserve Transit Authority: No nightline Thursday, closed Friday.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, closed Thursday and Friday; Hubbard Public Library, Warren-Trumbull, Newton Falls Public Library, early closing at 5 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday; Girard Free Library, early closing at 3 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday and Saturday; Kinsman Free Public Library, Bristol Public Library – Bristolville, McKinley Memorial Library – Niles, closed Thursday through Monday.

Stock market: Stifel Nicolaus, closed Friday.

Banks: Cortland Banks, closing at 2 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday; Key Bank, closing at 3 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday; Farmers National Bank, First National Bank, PNC Ohio, PNC Pennsylvania, Home Savings & Loan, closing at 4 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday; Chase Bank, Charter One, Talmer Bank, Home Federal Savings & Loan, Niles, Huntington Bank, Austintown, closed Friday.

Trash collection: Allison Brothers Inc., Allied Waste, Waste Management, Warren City Environmental Services, Waste-Tech Services, closed Friday, services delayed one day.
