Power is restored at YSU after electrical work


YOUNGSTOWN

Power has been restored to the campus of Youngstown State University.

The university will resume normal business operations on Wednesday.

As previously announced, the university shut down electrical power to campus on Monday morning, . to make repairs and upgrades to the university's main substation. As the scheduled repairs were being completed, there was a short circuit and minor explosion in a electrical vault under Grant Street near Stambaugh Stadium. The university announced at that time that campus would be closed today while repairs were being made. Those repairs have now been made and power has been restored to campus. The university will remain officially closed today and will resume normal business operations on Wednesday.

As of now, a second planned power outage set for Sunday will occur as planned.
