VIENNA
The National Weather Service Cleveland office issued a flood warning Sunday for Eagle Creek at Phalanx Station in Trumbull County.
At 3 p.m., the water level of Eagle Creek was at 10.2 feet, 9 inches over flood stage which is 9.5 feet; and the river was expected to rise to to 10.6 inches later Sunday.
Several roads in the area were expected to be flooded.
The NWS reported that rainfall from 1.5 to 2.5 inches occurred overnight Saturday and Sunday, and an additional half- to three-quarters of an inch of precipitation was expected by this morning.
Outdoorsmen’s event
STONEBORO, PA.
Munnell Run Farm will host an Outdoorsmen’s Dine-In dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at Stoneboro Volunteer Fire Hall, Station 76, 38 Linden St. Doors will open at 5. Proceeds will benefit the Youth Archery Camp and Environmental Education programs at Munnell Run Farm.
Dinner will include a catered buffet with three meats, five sides and assorted desserts. Basket and silent auctions will be offered, and there will be a drawing for the winner of an antelope archery hunt at 7:30 p.m..
Tickets still are available for both the hunt and the dinner, at the cost of one for $20 or two tickets for $35. Dinner tickets for children under 8 are $10. Tickets are available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Mercer County Conservation District office, 24 Avalon Court, Suite 300, Mercer, Pa. Head-on collision
MASURY
Two people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle, head-on crash Sunday morning when the brakes on one of the cars failed.
Brookfield police said a female driver was going down a hill on Warren-Sharon Road when her brakes stopped working, causing her to hit a utility pole, then hit another vehicle head-on and continue through an intersection and into a ditch, according to a report by 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. Neither driver required hospitalization, police reported.
Crash in Hubbard
HUBBARD
A two-car crash at the intersection of Oak Knoll and E. Liberty streets at 5:20 p.m. Saturday resulted in one person being transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital in Youngstown.
Hubbard City police, who were assisted by Hubbard Fire Department and Brookfield safety forces, are investigating the cause of the crash.
Mahoning Veterans meeting canceled
YOUNGSTOWN
The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday at the Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., has been canceled, according to Susan Skrzynski, executive director and veterans service officer.
