Two more wins have Canfield at 6-0-1

Wins over Mayfield and Aurora last weekend have the Canfield High School varsity hockey team off to a 6-0-1 start.

Last Saturday at The Ice Zone, the Cardinals romped over Mayfield, 9-0. Juniors Sam Hepola and Seth Opladen each scored a pair of goals as did freshmen Vincent Hepola and Robbie Stanko.

Senior Stephen Sansoterra scored the other goal.

Hepola and junior Anthony Clendinen each tallied two assists in the game. Senior goalie Patrick Byrne got the shut out.

Sunday at the Pond in Chagrin Falls, Hepola got a hat trick and Opladen recorded four assists in another victory. Canfield’s Stephen Sansoterra and Danny Beistel also scored goals.

Canfield is in first place in the Blue North division of the Greater Cleveland High School Hockey league. The team is coached by Chris Richards, Tom Villano and Phillip Colucci.
