Poland announces new football coach
The Poland Local School District Board of Education approved Ryan Williams as the new football coach at Poland Seminary High School.
Williams takes over a Poland football program previously led by Mark Brungard from 2004-2015. Brungard resigned in early November.
“Coach Williams brings enthusiasm, dedication and a true love of the game to our Poland football program,” said Poland Local School Superintendent David Janofa in a press release. “His vision for the program is to continue to promote the passion of Bulldog football on and off the field.”
Williams served the past 11 years as the defensive coordinator for the Poland Bulldogs. Prior to his time at Poland, Williams spent three years as an assistant football coach at Austintown Fitch High School. Williams has also served as the varsity boys track coach at Poland Seminary High School the past eight years.
“His passion for the game, his experience under Coach Brungard in the Poland Football Program and his passion for coaching the total student-athlete all led to his selection.” said Poland Local Schools Athletic Administrator Brian Banfield.
Williams is a graduate of Boardman High School and Cleveland State University. He and his wife, Alicia, currently reside in Poland with their children, Nate and Leanne.
