The Boardman library hosts a Lego My Library event once - sometimes twice - every month. Children who come to Lego My Library get to create their own Lego masterpieces to be displayed.

Allison Graff, a boardman librarian, led the event. Graff watches the children build their Lego projects while working on her own.

“My favorite part is talking to them about what they built. They have some good imagination going on,” she said.

The children choose Legos and different pieces from the “Lego buffet table.” After they choose what pieces they want, they put everything together to create their artwork. Graff said there are usually around 20 children who show up and they have a full hour to build whatever they like.

Books and some DVDs are set on the table for the children to check out after, or to look at during their Lego time. The children like to come to the library during events like these because it shows the library is more than just books. They are able to get creative and have fun at the library, but also have the chance to view different Lego books and movies. Children have the opportunity to spend time with their friends while also making new ones.

When the children are finished building, their Lego creations are placed in the library entrance display window until the next Lego My Library event.
