On Dec. 3, Austintown had its 29th annual Christmas Tree Lighting at the Austintown Fire Department number 2.

This event was well attended with Joyce Pogany, who was called “Mrs. Austintown” by Ken Carano, along with Jim Davis (trustee), Ken Carano (trustee) and Reverend Rick Stauffer (trustee).

The Austintown Fitch School band performed Christmas songs before Pogany lit up the tree.

Austintown residents attended, along with firemen at the Austintown Fire Station number 2.

The Austintown Junior Women’s League put out drinks and refreshments for everyone so they could warm up after being out in the cold.

After the lighting, everyone went in to see Santa Claus who had just arrived by fire engine.

Every child there was given a candy cane by Old Saint Nick, himself.
