Man charged with child endangering

NEW MIDDLETOWN

Police said they found a 3-year-old child Tuesday on Sandy Court who had been outside for several hours dressed in a sweatshirt and pajamas but without shoes or socks.

Officers found the child after neighbors called 911 about him, reports said. Reports said they found a man who was watching the child, William Bish, 32, who told police he had fallen asleep at 1 p.m. after a night of drinking and that he also smoked marijuana about 3 a.m.

Police arrested Bish. He is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangering. He and his wife have temporary custody of the child, reports said. Reports said the child was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley in Boardman for an examination and the child was released to a relative.

Bish is expected to be arraigned next week in Struthers Municipal Court.
