Six Austintown Fitch wrestlers won twice Wednesday as the Falcons dominated Boardman and Howland in a triangular meet on the Tigers’ mats.
Fitch’s Gus Sutton (113 pounds), Adan Koslik (145) and Ian Kotch (285) each pinned two opponents as the Falcons beat the Spartans, 56-14, and the Tigers, 72-6.
Sutton pinned Boardman’s Dan Sabelli in 1:05 and Howland’s Alexander Smith in 2:45. Koslik’s pins came against the Spartans’ Troy Stack in 1:12 and the Tigers’ Shawn Carr in 2:52. Kotch pinned Boardman’s Wesley Thompson in 2:20 and Howland’s Landon Hurst in 3:00.
Fitch’s Andrew Stehura (152), Isiah Jackson (170) and Tex Martin (182) also won twice in the Falcons’ two victories.
Stehura pinned Boardman’s Kelley Williams in 5:42 and won a major decision over Howland’s Tyler Hutchins, 12-4.
Jackson won an 11-6 decision over the Spartans’ Tyler Dempsey and pinned the Tigers’ Cross Scarpaci in 2:25.
Martin won a 3-2 decision over Boardman’s Cannon Carlile in one of the day’s best matches and pinned Howland’s Chris Kowach in 34 seconds in one of the day’s shortest.
The Spartans beat the Tigers, 44-24, in the other dual meet in the triangular.
Boardman’s Carlo DeNiro (160) and James Sferra were double-winners. DeNiro pinned Fitch’s Adam Green in 3:17 and Howland’s Scarpaci in 1:40. Sferra wrestled at 138 against Fitch’s Justin Goist and won 12-2 major decision. He earned a 6-1 decision over Howland’s Carr at 145.
Howland’s lone double-winner was Isom Julian (195), who won by decision and also pinned an opponent.
Julian beat the Spartans’ Nick Patoray, 9-4, and pinned the Falcons’ Chris Droege in 5:53 to supply the Spartans’ only points against Fitch.
The Falcons’ two team victories Wednesday improved their dual-meet record to 9-0.
