Sheriff: Teen dies in mobile home fire in western Ohio

WOODSTOCK, Ohio (AP) — A sheriff’s office says a teenager has died in a mobile home fire and two deputies who had tried to get the teen out were being treated for smoke inhalation in western Ohio.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office says a woman and a younger juvenile who escaped the fire today in the village of Woodstock also were taken to a hospital with smoke inhalation. Their conditions and the firefighters’ conditions weren’t immediately known.

The cause of the fire reported shortly before 1 a.m. is under investigation.

Sheriff’s officials say two deputies were patrolling the area when they heard a woman screaming and saw the fire. The woman told deputies a juvenile was trapped inside.

Authorities say the deputies were unable to get to the teen due to excessive smoke and flames.
