Ohio State 64, Mercer 44

JaQuan Lyle scored 12 of 18 points in the second half when Ohio State pulled away. The Buckeyes (7-5), winners of three straight, also got 13 points from Jae’Sean Tate and 12 by Keita Bates-Diop. Ohio State started the first five minutes of the second half on a 13-4 run to move ahead 38-28. Coming off a 74-67 win against then-No. 4 Kentucky on Saturday where the Buckeyes hit 9 of 18 3-pointers, they missed their first 16 long-range attempts and finished 3 for 22 (14 percent). Mercer (9-3) was 3 for 18 (17 percent).Ohio State led 25-24 at the half but were 11 for 29 (37.9 percent) from the floor and committed 12 turnovers, one more than the entire game against the Wildcats. They had just four in the second half. Desmond Ringer led the Bears with 18 points.

Western Kentucky 79, Detroit 74

BOWLING GREEN, KY.

Aaron Cosby scored seven of his 17 points in the final 2:15 and Justin Johnson finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds to help Western Kentucky slip past Detroit. Fredrick Edmond scored 14 on 7-of-9 shooting while Ben Lawson and Chris McNeal added 10 points apiece for Western Kentucky (7-5). Lawson had five blocked shots and McNeal had a career-high seven assists. Detroit scored 11 in a row, including 3-pointers by Josh McFolley and Anton Wilson, to take a 69-67 lead with 2:49 left. Johnson converted a 3-point play and Cosby made two free throws then hit a 3 to put Western Kentucky up by six with 1:29 remaining. Chris Jenkins made a pair of free throws and McFolley hit another 3 to make it 75-74 with 41 seconds left, but Cosby and McNeal combined to make 4 of 4 free throws to seal it. McFolley led Detroit (6-4) with 15 points.

Wright State 65, Murray State 49

JT Yoho scored 19 points and Michael Karena scored 18 points, sending Wright State past Murray State. Karena scored seven of the Racers’ first nine points to jump-start his team. Karena’s layup, free throw and dunk in succession gave Murray State a 9-7 lead. Karena scored 14 first-half points. Biggie Minnis’ layup and Mark Alstork 3 followed by a Minnis 3 made the score 17-11 and Murray State (5-7) never looked back. Alstork and Minnis each had 10 points. With a 36-23 lead at the break, Karena and Yoho hit jumpers to make it 40-31. Damarcus Croaker hit a layup, Jeffrey Moss made a 3 and Wayne Langston’s 3 cut the lead to 40-39 with 14:43 left. Moss lead Murray State (5-7) with 12 points and Croaker chipped in nine.

IPFW 89, W Michigan 86

KALAMAZOO, MICH.

Max Landis made a 3-pointer with 14 seconds left in overtime and IPFW beat Western Michigan. Thomas Wilder converted a 3-point play to give Western Michigan an 86-84 lead with two minutes remaining in overtime. John Konchar made a layup to pull the Mastodons to an 86-all tie. Tucker Haymond missed a layup for the Broncos and Konchar grabbed the board. Mo Evans missed a layup for IPFW, but Racine Talla pulled in the offensive rebound to set up Landis’ game winner. Wilder missed a 3-point attempt and Konchar corralled the rebound to end it. Landis made a layup with 29 seconds left in regulation to give IPFW an 81-79 lead. Anthony Avery Jr. made a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime. Landis scored 25 points with six 3-pointers to lead IPFW (10-4). Haymond had 24 points for Western Michigan (5-6).

Dayton 64, Miami (Ohio) 63

DAYTON

Kyle Davis hit the winning jumper with 2.1 seconds left and Charles Cooke scored 21 points to help Dayton beat Miami (Ohio). Davis finished with 12 points while Steve McElvene scored 10 with nine rebounds and four blocked shots for Dayton (9-2), which has won four of its last five. Cooke hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Flyers up 62-56 with 3:19 to play. Miami scored seven straight to take a one-point lead with 1:35 left and neither team scored until Cooke found Davis for the winner. Eric Washington, who led Miami (6-6) with 15 points and five assists, missed a potential winning 3 as time expired.
