Man faces threat charge over ‘Star Wars’ spoiler

HELENA, Mont.

A Montana man is charged with threatening to shoot a boy for sharing information about a subplot of the new “Star Wars” movie during an online conversation.

Arthur Charles Roy, of Helena, was charged with felony assault with a weapon Monday during an appearance in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court. He remains jailed with his bail set at $10,000.

Roy, 18, became angry Thursday when he learned details about “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” from a Facebook friend, prosecutors said.

Roy sent the friend a picture of himself with a gun and threatened to come to the victim’s school to shoot him, court records said. Roy reportedly said the gun was a Colt 1911 with a “hair trigger.”

The friend called a school resource officer Thursday afternoon to report the threat.

Helena’s alternative high school was locked down Friday morning after students said they were afraid Roy might follow through with his threat. Police arrested Roy Friday afternoon. He declined to answer questions on the advice of his attorney, court records said.

Police: ‘Merry Christmas’ bank robbery suspect arrested

BUFORD, Ga.

One day after a bank robber demanded cash but also wished the teller a merry Christmas, police in suburban Atlanta say a suspect turned himself in to face charges.

Gwinnett County police said in a news release that the robber entered a BB&T bank in Buford on Monday and handed a teller a note demanding money. At the end of the note, he had written “Merry Christmas.” Police say he got away with a small amount of cash.

In an update, police said 30-year-old Joshua Henry Harbin of Sugar Hill heard a news report about the case on the radio Tuesday and asked a local resident to call police and tell them he was involved in the robbery.

Mississippi officer helps make special pre-holiday delivery

CORINTH, Miss.

A Mississippi officer helped make a special pre-holiday delivery in a parking lot for a pregnant woman who couldn’t quite make it to the hospital.

Sgt. Ken Walker of Corinth came to the aid of Karla White about 4 a.m. Monday. WTVA-TV reports that White and her mother were on the way to the hospital and called 911. Dispatcher Ashleigh Hinds advised them to pull over and wait for an ambulance. They headed into a Kmart lot.

That’s when Walker showed up and realized there was no time to wait. The officer then helped deliver the baby.

Hinds says “emotions just overflowed the dispatch center.”

Walker says colleagues are giving him “atta boys” and calling him “baby doctor.”

Henry Dalton Byrd was due Jan. 7. Mom says he’s doing fine.
