A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for Christmas. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Niles, New Castle, Newton Falls Municipal Court, closing noon Thursday and closed Friday; Warren, closed Thursday and Friday ; Youngstown, Salem, Sharon, closed Friday .

County offices: Mercer, closing noon Thursday and closed Friday; Trumbull, closed Thursday and Friday; Mahoning, Columbiana, closed Friday ; Lawrence, closed Thursday, Friday and Monday.

All state, federal offices: Closed Friday. No mail delivery Friday.

Schools: Youngstown, Warren, Niles, Sharon, New Castle, Youngstown Diocese, closed through Jan. 4.

Universities: Kent State at Trumbull, early closing 5 p.m. today and closed through Jan. 4; Eastern Gateway Community College, closed today through Jan. 4; Youngstown State, business offices closed Thursday and Friday.

Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA): No night line service Thursday, closed Friday.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, Kinsman Free Public Library, Hubbard Public Library, Bristol Public Library, McKinley Memorial Library, Niles, Newton Falls Public Library, closed Thursday through Sunday; Warren-Trumbull, Bristolville, closed Thursday and Friday; Girard Free Library, early closing 6 p.m. today, closed Thursday and Friday;

Stock market: Stifel Nicolaus, closing 1 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday.
