Krista Johnson scored 44 points to power the Spartans. She scored 14 in the fourth quarter as Boardman outscored Liberty 27-9. Lauren Gabriele scored 16 points. For the Leopards, Amy Mikulich scored 20 points. Also scoring in double figures were Bryleona Woods with 11 and Marcy Dykes with 10.

Emily Melnek made six threes in a 26-point performance that snapped Poland’s (7-2) two-game losing skid. Bella Gadjos added 12 points for the Bulldogs. Sam Kendall led Beaver Local (3-1) with 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Rockets (1-5) picked up their first win of the season behind Lydia Mashburn’s 14 points and a defense that kept Campbell (0-5) to four points each quarter. Kalliope Zembillas led Campbell with seven points.

Alexis Hughes led Western Reserve with a game-high 24 points. Sydney Miller and Lauren Falasca also scored 12 points each for the Red Devils. Wellsville’s Ashley Bennet led with two steals and 21 points.

India Snyder scored a team-high 21 points for Valley Christian as the Eagles defeated Mathews. Daishja Parks also scored 12 points for Valley Christian, while Mathews was led by Paige Sponsler, who scored a game-high 23 points

Crestwood 87, Lakeview 52
CORTLAND
Crestwood’s (3-1) Jordan Fabry poured 34 points on Lakeview (3-4), who dropped the first game of the Lakeview Holiday Classic. Chris Muir led the Bulldogs with 15 points, Drew Munno added 12 and Jatise Garrison scored 11 points. Lakeview will face Akron Manchester tonight at 6 in game two of the classic.
SWIMMING
The Hubbard swim team is 3-0 after wins last week against Austintown Fitch, Lakeside and Salem. Against Lakeside, the Hubbard boys team won, 101-87. Hubbard’s girls team defeated Lakeside, 109-101.
SOFTBALL
Two Austintown Fitch softball players will compete in the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North at Kent State University on Jan. 9-10. Junior Emily Haggerty is a catcher while Gabrielle Miglets was picked to be one of 15 at the showcase designated as a Cage Animal Hitter. The event attracts athletes from 21 states and two Canadian provinces.
