OSHP trooper finds lost parrot

CANFIELD — Trooper Stephen Murphy of the Canfield Ohio State Highway Patrol Post was delivering court documents to the Mahoning County court in Austintown when he found a green parrot in the court parking lot.

Murphy picked the parrot up and placed it in the rear of his patrol car and took it to the Canfield post where it was brought inside out of the weather.

Dispatch contacted the Austintown Police Department who said they knew the parrot's owner. The owner was contacted and gave a description of his lost bird to dispatch who confirmed it was his missing parrot.

The owner, Jeffrey Petrycki of Austintown, came to the Canfield post and picked up his lost parrot. Petrycki said his parrot flew away Saturday night when he opened his door for a friend.
